Living Memories of a Man Who Shaped a People’s Destiny
This centenary exhibition gathers paintings and photographs that are more than artistic expressions; they are living memories of a man who shaped a people’s destiny. Each piece captures an aspect of Ssekabaka Edward Muteesa II — how he was, and how he remains alive in the life of this nation.
He sacrificed his youth to the service of a new nation, becoming the first post-independence President of Uganda — enduring hardship, persecution, and exile for the sake of a dream far greater than himself.
In this joint exhibition, eleven renowned visual artists — working in wood, acrylic, oil, and mixed media — weave together tales of a royal statesman whose life embodied a nation’s dream of pride, freedom, and independence.
