Finding us at the palace gate
We sit on Lubiri Ring Road, directly opposite the Kabaka’s Palace Gate. Here is how to reach us, and what to expect when you arrive.
The gallery is in Butikiro, on Lubiri Ring Road in Mengo, directly opposite the gate of the Kabaka’s Palace. It is roughly ten minutes from the centre of Kampala, depending entirely on the traffic.
Getting here
Most drivers know the palace gate by name, so asking for Butikiro or the Lubiri is more reliable than giving a street number. There is parking along the ring road. If you are coming by boda, the drop-off at Bulange is the nearest fixed landmark.
When to come
We are closed on Mondays. The quietest hours are early in the afternoon midweek; Saturdays are busier and better if you would rather see the rooms with people in them. Current opening times are listed on the contact page and update automatically.
What to expect
Entry is free. The rooms are single-storey and step-free from the road. Photography without flash is fine for personal use — please ask before photographing other visitors.
If you are bringing a group, or want someone to walk you through the current hang, write to us a few days ahead and we will arrange it.
